Okay,i was lying in my bed last night and i realised i could put up a mega strong shelf/cupboard thats mounted on the wall for a 4 ft tank. Id get the same guy in who did my built in wardrobes etc. I think he could do it! But,would the weight be too much for a shelf/cupboard just on the wall. Ill ask the guy at the LFS when i go in next
It would be above my bed...high enough so i dont bang my head when i get up at night. It would be 4'x1'x whatever high,it could be 2 foot high!
Id want the cupboard rather than the shelf so i could put an external filter in there,if not ill ust use a mega internal!
Could this work? id get thick would and strong things that shelves mount on if you knwo waht i mean)!

Personally I wouldn't. Water is very heavy and it would need to very heavy duty shelving to hold a 4ft tank.

A 160l 4ft tank weights:

Weight in grams: 160000
Weight in kg: 160
Weight in tonnes: 0.16
Weight in ounces: 5648
Weight in pounds: 352.736
Weight in stones: 25.195660048
Weight in tons: 0.16256

So it weights about the same as two average sized adults. + the weight of any hardscape and substrate in there.

Also if it is above your bed you are going to have a hard time doing water changes and maintainence (unless you like having your bed covered in fish tank water :) ).

If you want to drown, cut into pieces, eaten, electrocuted and squased, then go aheaed. :hyper:

No seriously, you're just asking for a disaster to happen. I'm not saying it's not possible, because it IS possible, but not by someone who, with all respect, only has experience with building wardrobes and stuff like that. Also tell this guy what could potentially go wrong and then ask him if he still wants to do it.
