the inside of a plant leaf

what should i do now....?

should i remove the plant as to stop them eating the eggs???

thanx

maccky ;)

oh crap i read a good article about a dude who bred them. apparently his didnt eat the fry, but spawned under a rock, and a few days later miniture cories swam out. if i can find the article i'll post it y'all

cheers moe..

does anyone know if there is a way to tell if the eggs are fertalised???
they are still atached to the plant untouched by the other fish

macky :)

Hi macky1

I think I responded to your post in Catfish Cradle.

I'm glad to learn the eggs are still uneaten. If you have both a male and female cory, chances are that all or most of them are fertile and will hatch in 3 - 4 days from the time they were laid.

The biggest concern, not counting getting eaten, is that the eggs will develop fungus. The best way to prevent this is to have excellent water circulation around them. If you can put an airstone in the tank, it will help greatly.

What kind of corys are they? What will you do when they hatch?

thanks inch worm

i have looked at the eggs today and they have developed black spots
and i saw one of the spots spinning round in the egg so i think the chances are they are fertile.

i have a good circulation and a air stone near the eggs

would it be worth buying one of them little boxes for fish fry to keep them out of there way until they are big enough

also

would it make any diffrence that these fish was placed in the tank to get the filter working
as the nitrites are quite high at the moment until the filter cycle is up and running

thanx inchworm

macky :D :D :D

p.s

they are bronze cory's and im not sure what i will do with them when (and IF they hatch)

went down to local aquatic store today and bought 1 of them breeding nets to put the eggs in just in case
and put them straight in after i had set it up

10 mins later they started to hatch
at the moment i have about 6 1mm fry in the net

damn!! hope they survive

i was given some food to feed the fry called "liquifry"

is there anything i need to do???

macky :D

Hi macky1 :)

I'm always glad to hear such good news.

Wait a day and then give them a drop of the Liquifry several times a day. In 2-3 weeks you will be able to start feeding them finely chopped blackworms, and then watch them grow.

Now, the next thing to think about is getting them into a tank of their own so they can grow and not risk getting caught in the breeding net. Here's a thread where I discussed equipment for raising corys:

Please let me know how the little guys are doing, and if you have more questions, just ask. Good luck!

thanx inchworm...

im not sure but i think she is filling up with eggs again...WOW what a way to start eh!!!

lol

would it make a diffrence to the fry with the nitrites being high
as the filter is not primed yet

these fish were added to the aquarium to help get the filter going

taa

macky :hey:

ut oh!!

she just laid another batch of eggs...

babys are doing fine they around 4mm now and starting to colour up

macky :D

Hi macky1 :)

That's wonderful! :) Mine are spawning too.

Do try to keep the nitrites down by doing water changes. Frequent water changes are a good thing to do with any fry, even if there is no specific problem with the water.
