We watched the Corys (for the first time) lay their little eggs yesterday but when we woke up this morning, they had all disappeared...

There are only 2 Corys in the tank - have they been eaten by the Corys?

Hi JobySp :)

It's been my experience that some cory's will eat their eggs and others won't. What kind of corys are they?

My bronze and albinos actually seem to clean the eggs and only remove a few, perhaps ones that were going bad. I leave them in the tank until just before the eggs start to hatch.

My sterbai ignore their eggs, so I take them out.

But, the pandas will eat them as soon as they are laid. I have no trouble with getting them to spawn, but have had little success in saving their eggs since they eat them so quickly. All I have is about a half dozen baby pandas to show for 3 spawnings. :-(

They are peppered cories.
They are cleaning the glass again now

perhaps they will lay some more

Hi JobySp :)

If they don't, don't feel bad. Just condition them on lots of good blackworms and they will be ready to go again in 2-3 weeks.

At least you know you do have a breeding pair.

Got home today and there are loads more eggs.
Dirty buggers :)

Hi JobySp :)

That's wonderful news!

Please let me know about their progress. :D

P.S. Do you have gravel on the bottom of the their tank? I find that it's much easier to keep the tank clean for the fry if I take it out before the eggs hatch. As you know, cleanliness is very important with corys and it is impossible to remove waste and uneaten food (if you have gravel) since the fry spend their time right down on it.

Yeah I do have gravel in this tank, as this is the tank i didn't expect anything to happen in it... Its my guppy and platy tank (who have now been rehomed temporarily). And strangely.. The eggs have disappeared again.

I am getting really confused with this now.

Hi JobySp :)

How disappointing. Your corys must be eating their eggs. Sometimes they will do that. All you can do is try to take them out before they can.

I keep gravel in the tank while they are spawning and then take it out before the fry hatch. I started doing that after I had some corys lay their eggs on the glass bottom. Then they sat on them..........it was a big mess!
