I'm planning on purchasing a school of cories on my tank maybe panda's or agazzii, but I'm just wondering if they can live in high temp.. My tank is set at 30 C/86 F all the time.... What strains or species of cory's would do well on this condition???? Thanks....

Hi G_Sharky :)

That temperature is too high for most corys. C. sterbai, however, is one that can tolerate them and is often kept with discus. They are also considered by many to be a "classy" fish that is a fitting addition to a discus tank. :D

Heya :)

I'd just like to emphasise...NOT pandas. They are extremely sensitive to temperature and prefer to be kept in a temp of 22-24. They were the first to die one time when my tank overheated :X

I agree with the sterbai suggestion. I beleive adolphoi can also cope with the higher temp. but you might wanna look that up and check in case I'm wrong. -_-

My girlfriend's father had a school of corys, and when his heater broke and the tank overheated, the corys were the only fish to survive. They were smart enough to bury themselves in the sand to prevent from overheating.

They're very adaptable (and smart, obviously!).

I've been searching for cories on alot of sites and most species they said can survived temp of 25 C-29 C that includes the panda cories too..... I used to have 2 peppered cory, but they died when I have to heat my tank up to 33 C/92 F to med my sick Discus and they didn't survived that.... :( I'm just asking this to make sure cause some of those cories like the panda or the agazii are quite expensive and I really don't wanna spend money just to see my newly acquired fish die after in a day or too.....

well it's your choice...but aside from having personally found lots of sites saying pandas prefer cooler water, I can't really deny my own experience with them. which is that they don't like heat.

also whether a fisdh survives in a high temperature isn't the same as whether it is happy. goldfish can live in warm water, but not as long as they would in cold water, because it speeds up their metabolism.
