One of my cories died the other day - no idea why, no signs.

Yesterday, another cory seemed to be hanging round at the surface a lot, and sitting on leaves near the surface. I popped him into a breeding net but he seemed OK, notbothering with the surface. I let him back into the main tank tonight and now there are 3 of them at it! Swimming almost upside down at the surface for a while before diving back down to the bottom.

I've not had them long enough to know if this is normal behaviour or not....

The tank is fully cycled, and has been for at least 4 months. The cories have been in there for about 2 months.

Water stats are spot on - 0 ammo and nitrite. I water change every week without fail. My temp is a comstant 80 degrees, though about a week ago, my heater broke and it dropped to about 74 before I got a new heater in there.

Nothing new in tank. I quarantine all my fish. no new decorations. All toher fish are acting normal. The cories have no sign of white spot or any other illness - all look perfectly healthy.

Any ideas?
Should I catch them and quarantine them? What meds should I use as a precaution?

:S My husband was convinced on of them was dead and fished him out but he is still alive. Popped him into a bowl to look at him and he seems to have someting a bit white and fluffy near his tail. HELP! Please tell me this isn't columnaris :S Just caught a second cory who is looking bad... couldn't swim fast enough to get away from the net. the 3rd seems OK and can't see any fluff on him....

After looking round, it looks like this may be fungus. I have anti internal bacteria meds, velvet meds, whitespot meds, general tonic, and aquarium salt. Are any of these suitable to cure fungus? If not, what is best? i am in the UK.

One is now dead. Where the white was, near the tail, it looked kinds bloody just under the surface. Can anyone help me save my other cory?

What test kit are you using? To have 0 Nitrate doesnt sound right - you should have a nitrate reading. You need to use a good quality liquid test kit not the strips which are not accurate.

White fluff sounds like fungus which I would dose for . I use Interpet no 8 for anti fungus and finrot. You can buy online here:-

Fish meds

Or to treat quicker just go to your local fish shop and ask. In the meantime I would also do 50% water changes daily until you begin treating .

Hi

I have 0 Nitrite, not nitrate! I use the API master freshwater test kit.
I'm struggling to get to an LFS until later in the week - but I have used ani internal bacteria meds in the past for finrot - will this work for fungus??
