Hi all!

I am interested in getting a Convict but am not sure if I can get one with the fish
that I currently have.

I mainly have small fish - a few tetras, corys, platties, a Khuli loach, danios as well as three jellybeans and a few others.

How big do they get?
Are they aggresive and will I be able to put them with the fish I currently have?

Your advice will be appreciated!

you do know that jellybeans are dyed fish which i think is a horrible thing to do to any animal!!!

convicts will probably eat your small fish and may be aggressive and teritorial

I do realise that and had I known that at the time I would not have bought them!!
They were one of the first fish I bought.

Thanks for the info though! Will rethink the convict idea

Convict's get around 6 inches. THe males get bigger. They will attack and desyroy anything that cant hold it's own, which is about everything in your tank. Not all Jelly beans are dyed. Convict's brred every week or 2 deepending on the fish. The Convict's can be kept with the JellyBean, but nothing else on you list. Your jelly Beans might kill everything else in you tank when they st art breeding aswell. 1 convict alon( especially female) might be okay with the fish you listed, but there is a good chace it will pair up with you JellyBeans.

Thanks Kribensis12!

The reason I wanted a Convict was so that it could breed with the Jellybeans.
Im not sure I will be able to get a convict alon very easily here in SA

My Jelly beans are a bit pink but not very bright, sort of a light pastel colour.
Is it possible that mine are not died? What colours are they usually died?

Pink arent Dyed, that is their natural( well, since their hybrid's, maybe not natural) color. Dyed ones swill be pink, orange, green, blue, and other color's. Why can you not get 1 alone?

It seems like mine arent dyed then which is a relief!

Sorry I misunderstood about the convicts. I will be able to get one.
I have only seen convicts recently at my LFS and did not really trust them to give me the correct information
so I thought I would check it out first. Im glad I didnt buy any!

When I have another tank set up I will rethink it.

Thanks for the info!
