I went out of town last night and just got back home...my pair of convicts had spawned and now their babies are free swimming...

The male convicts lips seems to really cut up and white...i cant get a good pic as he is swimming around protecting the fry...i think the salvini i have in the tank with him went after the babies and the male responded...the salvini has a little white spot on his lip, but nothing else seems to be wrong...how should i treat this wound?

Also they are in a 55 gallon tank with a pleco, no problems with water stats, this is a fish on fish crime :shifty: lol

Thanks for any help!

Can you issolate him.
have they been locking mouths.
Do the lips or mouth looked bleached out, or cotton wool looking, or white strands.

i have no idea about the mouth locking, since ive been back i havent seen it, and i cant isolate him in a tank...yea its thick almost like cotton strands...it actually seems better than it did last night

Well i got a pic, it already is looking better dont know if you can even see much
Been dosing MelaFix for 2 days now

Sounds like a battle to protect the fry to be, especially seeing as it is healing already. This is common with cichlids that spawn in a community tank.

I'm surprised the salvini doesn't have more damage, breeding cons can be really brutal. Keep a spare tank or divider handy for situations such as these.
