Basically both my wife (who paints them) and myself think they are pants - but people buy them off her...

Judge for yourself...

I hate contemporary art- but I sell it too, lol. Hers has good depth- the first one is really pretty. If it's selling- don't knock it. Abstract/contemporary art is almost an always seller.
I much prefer realism/western art. - but then again- that's just me. ;)

I can sell one small realism chicken for $450.00 to the right buyer.
But, on the other hand- I can sell some crappo abstract for $10.00 to $100.00 and sell loads of them fast.
Even though people are willing to spend more on my "real" art- I still make more money on the abstracts. :D Cause people buy so many so fast.

The first one is really pretty. ;)
*done rambling*

the second one's kind of cool though, the colours don't quite do it for me but yah, pretty cool.

Personally I don't like much of it....went to the Guggenheim in New York....*yawns* what a bore that was....however, she is good at it and if you can make money from it to support doing the kind of art you really love....then all the power to her! She is an awesome artist, many people in my family are as well, so I have been around it alot of my life and think I am a pretty good judge of what is good and what is not. Her contemporary work is very nice and well done, as a matter of fact it is alot better than anything I saw at the Guggenheim, there was only one painting there that interested me in the least....and remember, doing something just to make money is not selling out as long as you still do what you love and makes you happy!

Okaies, lemme see if it will upload. : :shifty:
I can't upload pics. It says ( click here to refresh, page cannot be found) I'm trying to find an image hosting site so I can link to the pic. :-(
Wonder why my browse button doesnt work?

i'm not too keen on contemporary art, but i quite like the first one.

i love the first and third ones

some contemporary stuff does nothing for me (eg the second one) but a lot does. pictures don't have to be 'pretty' for me, good colours or patterns or shapes can be just as appealing to my eyes

those paintings i don't really consider "contemporary", more like "retro" (jobysp., i admire your wife's skill, don't get me wrong ;) ) i happen to like a lot of contemporary art (japanese artists are on the cutting edge right now in terms of their manga and video game influenced visions) and a lot of neo-graff influenced artists kind of excite me as well. everyones taste is different though and i respect someone like your wife who throws it out into the public. it's been a few years since i've had a show myself but i guess most of you wouldn't like my work as it's as far away from traditional and realist as you can get :fun:

My view of contemporary art is the same as my view on almost all artisitic endeavours - some I like, some I don't.

I tend to prefer abstract painting to real type pictures, and of the three items presented, I like the first one best. The second is very Mondrian in style, I don't care for it, and the primitive shapism of the third leaves me cold.

Wasn't it CrimsonTsavo that asked me if my avatar was a "My Little Pony"? You see, abstraction can be thought provoking.

A lot of the modern "installation" type exhibits are utterly ridiculous, I see an unmade bed every morning when I get up - I don't need Tracy Ermin to show me hers!

Absolutely spot on!

i'm not a big contemporary art fan. i like the impressionists to some degree, big fan of the pre-raphealites though, and degas. but the second and third ones are kind of neat, in the right home. the top one, no offense, looks like something in a cheap hotel room or a dentists office................

Yuppers it was me that asked that. (my little pony)

Joby- I cant do pictures here. BUT I just remembered I have some on my website,LOL.
