I started cycling a new tank about 2 weeks ago. I added ammonia, tested it and had a level of about 2-3 ppm. Two days ago I saw nitrite at 0.5 ppm with ammonia dropping. I tested again yesterday (because I was overly excited about the nitrite). My ammonia was 0 ppm and the nitrite was at 0.5. I was very puzzled at the ammonia being zero, but did nothing. Today I tested again...0 ammonia, 0 nitrite BUT also zero nitrate. There are a few small plants in the tank, but I don't think I could possible be cycled at this point. There was no nitrite spike, no nitrates, and I've never been fully cycled in just over 2 weeks. Any guesses?
