Hello there

I've recently set up a second tank with some guppies in there

Its only a twelve gallon tank but I was basically looking for some bottom feeders that'll pick up the bits that the guppies don't want?

Only thing is is that I fancy some more quite colourful or just plain old wierd/cool fish in keeping with the theme of the tank (Garish some might say)

I might just settle for some kind of shrimp if they look cool enough!?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Robert

Hi,

Have you considered mystery snails? They'll eat a little off the bottom, although you'll probably have to supplement their diet with something else too. They come in yellow, blue, black, white, and probably other colors as well.

Zebra Pleco might also be a fish to look into. They stay small, and are a little more interesting. What is the length of the tank?

I don't believe these guys get over 4 inches.

Too bad they cost an arm and a leg! Also, they really should be kept in species only tanks for breeding purposes, since they are no longer being exported from their natural habitat and are threatened. More information can be found at http://www.zebrapleco.com/

OP: I would go with some cories or the snails mentioned. :good:

Most shrimp should be ok with guppies... If you want something colourful Cherry shrimp should be ok but the babies would need lots of hiding places (like moss) to survive to adulthood.

Another choice could be an Albino Bristlenose plec... They are only white so aren't colourful but do look quite weird! You would probably need to feed this guy more than the bits the guppies miss though if you don't have a lot of algae.
