feel free to shift this over to the Coldwater Fish & Ponds section if it needs to, i wasn't sure where to put it.

We are having MAJOUR algae issues in the pond, and we are trying everything - UV filter seems to be failing, washed out the sponges which didn't work so we just completely replaced them (had other filter media in there too still so dont worry about bacteria lol), and i put in some Barley Straw last week which we are still waiting to work.

So, next move, planting up and getting snails. We wanted to plant up the pond anyways, but hoping that plants (especially floating plants), will help cut the algae. We were naughty and scoured the local ponds yesterday :shifty: but they are empty.

Has anyone had any experience ordering pond plants online? Ive done a quick google search and there is this place that is pretty cheap http://www.bromfieldaquatics.co.uk/ and have quite a variety, im just not sure if they come as bulbs or plants.

Also, any more suggestions for algae removal are very much appreciated (no chemicals!)

I think the barley straw is doing its job :good:

I went to Maidenhead Aquatics (stokesley), and whilst they had a very rubbish selection of pond plants, i left with three... and a Turbo Snail for the marine tank at college
