Coal

As in BBQ CHARcoal?

I think the stuff you buy for your filters is activated carbon, which is treated with oxygen to open up millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms, and probably doesn't come from the same source as BBQ coal.

From this website.

One of my tropical tanks is bare bottomed so i thought a couple of bits of coal would look nice. Now thanks to your question its not?

Is there a pinned thing anywhere about rocks? Im finding the pinned topics confusing to find as they are all over the forum. Maybe a forum just for pinned stuff rather than it being dotted here there and everywhere.

I find the same for pinned articles, sometimes you are looking of a particular article and it turns out to be in the place you never would have looked for it first in (for example there's an article on wood types in the chit chat section here, when really i think it would be better off in the plants section of the forum, no?)

I agree things are placed wrong. Much better if there was a place specifically for pinned topics and then listed in sections. For example, rocks, wood, gravel, ornaments in a decor section. Plants wouldnt be there but in a specific planted area with little subsections to give type, growing conditions, etc.
