We just got a couple of clowns that we were going to put in to our 29gal tank until the 125gal was done cycling.
But while they were floating, I noticed that the clowns have what I'm fairly certain is ich.
So in to the spare 10gal tank they went.
Now I'm just wondering how do you get rid of the ich?
I've heard that clowns are sensitive to medication and they're sensitive to salt, so what could I use to help?
I raised the temp and put in an airstone.....
Meds I have for parasites are Quick Cure and General Cure(doesn't say it deals w/ ich though).

So what would be the best thing to do to treat? And for how long on average will it take for to cure?

raise the temp to 80f this will help kill the ich (clowns will tollerate that temp, but now all fish)
Protozin is great stuff but it only kill the larval stages in the water not the spots it self
So u need to use it every 3 days
until all spots are gone, usual 12 days or so.

Good luck

Don't forget to increase aeraton.
I would just half dose the med to see how they cope.

Yep, one of the first things I did after turning the temp up was hooked up one of our air pumps and added an airstone to the tank :)
Will try the half dose and see how that goes.

Thanks :) Really hope these little guys make it. Suspect that we'll probably have to go through this again... sigh.
I added 4 drops to the 10gallons. It says to add 1 drop per gallon so figured 4 would be enough considering there is some gravel and a cave in the tank.
Poor loaches don't look happy at all.

*nods* I've been to that site before. It definitely is a very good read about clown loaches :)

hi there. i use waterlife protozin. so yes raise your temp to about 30 degrees C. depending on the size of the tank depends on how much you use and you have to treat on days 1, 2, 3 and 6 and i find its brilliant stuff. if you can get hold of it get the waterlife protozin professional 2x concentrate. works a treat and you will notice with days the ich clearing up

I can't notice anything right now. Water is SO cloudy.
Did a water change and it helped some.
The clowns are swimming around though & seem to be scrounging around for food, so taking that as a good sign.
Going to Walmart later so will see what they carry. If nothing, then I'll just continue w/ this Quick Cure stuff.
Think gonna have to replace the heater that is in there w/ a different one. It's not raising the temp past 82F
