I woke up this morning and my tank is very very cloudy - can hardly see any of the fish..... any ideas on why its done this?

will it kill my fish?

Only thing different is i installed an external filter yesterday....but thats supposed to mak the water better so i dont think it could be that...

help......

If you installed another filter it will have to cycle.
I would post this thread in new to the hobby section of the forum.
Good luck.

what colour is the cloudiness?
if white/milky then yes it is a bacterial bloom and should clear on its own in a few days.
if it is green the it is an algae bloom and you can use a particulate clumper to help your filter remove it.
Sera, interpet and nutrafin all do chemicals for this job

Yeah its milky/white colour..... will the fish get ill while its clearing up itself?

it is 100% harmless, don't worry about it.
if however it has not cleared within 5 days, you may have a
particulate problem and the same advise for an algae bloom applies

ok thank you for your help

When you installed your new filter, what did you do with the old one?

Also, do you have any current water stats for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?

All the best
