i recently did a water change and put in ph stablilizing powder and water clearing solution and stress coat, and the tank has been cloudy for 2 days already

im quite new at this can anyone explain why its cloudy? also direct snulight hits the tank but i block it (the window is big and far away haah so i block the tank not the window) but there is no signs of green or algae so far so thats good

but its cloudy
anyone opinions?

1. Have you only just set it up? In which case it's perfectly normal, it's just a case of nutrient levels balancing out and bacteria growing. Also, why are you putting all that crap in your water  pH stabilizer is not needed. Stresscoat is also not needed as a regular dose and has questionable value even for new fish. The water clearing solutions are usually always a complete waste of money as well.

2. Are you cycling your tank with fish or without fish? If the answer is with fish, what fish have you got and in what sized tank?

:good:

I agree that you don't need the pH adjusters or the water cleaning stuff but Stresscoat is a dechlorinator and you definitely need it (or a similar one) unless you have well water without chlorine and chloramine. It's all I ever use.

As for the pH, leave it alone. Most fish will easily adapt to the pH of your water as long as it is stable with a few exceptions. The worst thing for fish is when the pH is in constant swing ans that is what happens with the adjusters.

And as mentioned, cloudy water is not uncommon in a cycling/new tank. It is definitely not uncommon in one that receives direct sunlight. Even a small amount can cause it. It will eventually clear.

 der. That'll teach me not to read properly.

a second point i didnt know stesscoat was the dechlorinator i thought it was added to it
It says it helps with healing and replacing the slime coat after fish have been injured or netted. I don't know if that is true or not but it definitely removes chlorine and neutralizes chloramine.

hey guys thanks
now i have another problem, my fish arent eating a lot (i also have 2 pearl gouramis) but they are pecking at each other...it is visible that there are bite marks and some flesh gone :( what can i do?

What fish do you have in the tank and what size is it?

if your talking about the jagged underfiniage ithink thats fairly normal as most of the gouramis ive seen have it (even i n a coupl'o books) mine both have it, as for fin nipping my pair of 3 spot went through a phase of that but they dont anymore and lastly flesh?!? thought of issolating the fish adn dosing with a general anti bactirial?
