I have had live plants, fish and various pieces of bogwood for months and always had very clear water, however I did a big tank rearangement this last weekend and ever since the water has looked really cloudy. I am hesident to try one of the cloudy water clearing agents becuase I have heard they arn't very good for the fish. So the question is what causes this and what can I do to improve or fix the issue.

I would not try to fix your problem with something in a bottle! There's 2 methods that work for me when the water is really cloudy after a big rearangement:
1. shut the pumps off during the night, you will see that a lot of the dust will have settled by morning.
2. put in a couple of extra pumps with fine filtering medium to filter the dust out

This is a very bad idea, having particles in the water reduces oxygen content, and shutting off the pumps would suffocate the fish. Nor do you want to have the dust settle, as it's just more unsightly waste to build up. I would just leave it as it is, sometimes they take a whle to clear up.

water chage will help a bit, if you have space for a small internal filter, one packed with carbonnis a good bet its great for clearing the water and wont cost you the earth :)

I did a water change, i think part of the issue is before I only had a 15 watt light where now I have a 110 watts so things are brighter and I can just see more particles
