Hi Everyone,

I have been a member here for a bit over a year as long as I have had my tank. I am perplexed by the recent cloudiness of my water. I have a 30G tank with Biofiltration. My water stats are Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrate 0ppm nitrite 0ppm and ph is 7.4. i have had this cloudiness for a few weeks now I have used clear water meds only to work for a day. I changed 50% of the water last week adn did a 25% today. I will do that again tomorrow. Other than that I do not know what else to do. Could it be the bio filter not working properly? I have a blood Parrot, bala shark, 4 rasboros and a chinese algae eater, 2 Opaline Gouramis. Any advice would be considered.

Thanks All.

Might be an algae bloom my mum's tank did that I left the lights off for a couple of days seemed to help alot.

Thanks I don't see any algae but i will try the lights suggestion to se if that does anything. I was sitting here answering this post when I thought hmm I have not looked at my tank this morning since the last water change so I did and to my surprise it is looking really good again. I think it waited for me to get totally frustrated them fixed itself haha. Thanks for the post though.

Possibly a bacterial bloom, I wouldn't worry.

But the stocking, unless there's a valid reason, is a worry...

Blood Parrot- Grows too big and is very aggro
Bala shark- Schooling, skittish, 14" max size, 180g minimum
Chinese algae eater- Gets big and nasty, likes to eat the slime coat of flat bodied fish, for instance, opaline gouramis.

Oh yeah, what filter does the tank have?

I have a tetratech Pf150 heater/filter. I thought also the chinese algae eater would be a problem but he tried a few times and has now given up trying to get other fish. He has stayed 1 inch long for almost a year now he is the only origninal fish to stil be in the tank along with the blue gourami. I am however moving up to the 95 Wave tank in about 6 months. The parrot fish is agressive but mostly toward the plants in the tank I have not seem him go after anoyone yet I will watch out for that though. thanks for the info.

Hmm, sure it's a CAE and not an otto? They look pretty much the same.

I'm not familiar with how that filter works, but I'd probably advoid washing the sponges for now. You could stick some filter floss in there though.

The shark at the pet store shows it s total length to be 8-10 incehs and i thought I had sufficient room for him or her. I will watch the growth adn change tanks accordingly if that is the case and it grows to big. I will try and put my tank on the picture forum so you can see if youlike?
