Hello humans of the sea,

I have added a layer of sand over my rocky gravel about 2 weeks ago and since hav'nt done a water change in order to not take in the sand.

How do i clean sand with a python? There is a bunch of fish waste on the nice powdered sugar-like sand, and its ugly.

Thanks

I don't use a python, but I guess the procedure is similar. I take the gravel attachment off leaving just the pipe of my siphon, and then put it 2cm or so above the sand and wiggle it, still takes a small amount of sand but also moves it about a bit, thus releasing any waste and also reducing the risk of anaerobic pockets, although being planted I only do the visible part of the sand, and ignore the planted part, letting the plants take care of the waste naturally in their 67% of the surface.
