Where I work there is a Eclipse 26 gallon tank with 4 cichlids in it. They are only 2-3 inches long and fully grown. I was wondering what kind of fish it was (African or South American) and how to look after them (how many in a tank)? Thanks for your help.

any more information? like their colours? or general descriptions.

If they are colour full they may be apisto's (Apistogramma) but that's just a wild guess!

Well, one is blue back ground (like the blue on the tropical fish forums banner) with darker blue vertical stripes. Sounds like a convict but I thought they were bigger... 2 are vibrant yellow and one is a mouve, brown mixed colour and seems to be the more agressive of the 4 (not sure that matters though). Sorry, that's all I know-I wish I had a digital camera -_-

Sounds like they are to big to be Apistogrammas, my guess would be some Africans with a Convict, I think you have some yellow labs maybe but I am not sure on the others.

they are probably african, but like ryan said.
