Quite a few of you said I was a bit mad to put cherries in with goldfish and no filtration or heaters. Also that it would be just very expensive food for the goldies. I was catching my last spawn to sell on to a local buyer and I have caught 100s of shrimp either that all the same ten lots and lots of times. I knew that they were surviving in there as I do see them occasionally but it would seem they are breeding and thriving even with countless predators. Just thought I would update that it is possible to keep goldfish an cherries together in a well planted pond.

Rip charlie one of my pair of albino commons, I think I might of stepped on him whilst wading through the pond as his gills were haemorrhaging and he had damage to scales on his side..

Yeah I will add photos in a little while, I have been sifting through the pond muck since 9 am trying to catch the bloody goldfish babies and so the water level is down from a metre to around 6" and I have only just stepped out of the shower. I was amazed by the number of newts in it as it is around 80 gallons and their are approx 40-50 newts ( I am going to count them as I add them back in) which means I exceed the inch per gallon guide easily with just newts.
