My cherry barb were spawning last night. Are these some of the eggs? They're not in a breeding tank but I might separate the eggs from the barbs, if possible. I'm sure there are some in the gravel, of course, but two of these blobs appeared on the cabomba in the area they were spawning. With the naked eye, the 'blobs' appear to have more round sections to them (this is a very poor, zoomed photo from my phone).

Only three small pest snails. Do these look like their eggs? I know that barb eggs should be separate and round but I did read that they sometimes lay them in cabomba too.

I have. They're usually round and separate but on the other hand, there aren't many close up images. Some do appear to have a glue-like substance between them and be laid in mounds.

I'm thinking that's more likely but I can't find any matching pictures for aquarium snail eggs either. Maybe I'll have to wait and see. I might remove them, along with some of the gravel from this area, just in case. Thanks for you help though :)

Yes, any egg removed shouldnt get air to it, it can start fungus growing on them is they are exposed to open air.

Cherry barbs from what i know almost exclusively lay single eggs, and will dot them around the tank, snails lay eggs in a sort of "jelly". I would say they are snail eggs in the pic.

I agree with Mowbz. Cherry barbs don't lay their eggs on surfaces too. Some even snap them up right after they're laid before they fall onto the gravel/plants

I've just found one tiny Cherry Barb in my tank! I didn't even see any eggs! Most of the others have been eaten already I guess, but I've got on left. She's like 6-8mm long and a perfectly coloured little minature fishie!

I hope she makes it!

Did you ever find any fry?

Yay! I'm really glad for you! Cherry barb fry are so adorable :hyper: She's now safe from getting eaten up so everything depends on her health. I hope she makes it too.

No I didn't. If they weren't eaten right after, they were still scavenged for and found after
