I remember reading a post here a while back. It was regarding a plant which grew roots from the stem, near where the leaves grow. You could then re-plant this horizontally from the new roots and it would start growing vertically from the point of the roots.

Does anyone know the name of this plant? I think I have one but I'm not sure, I need to find out before i attemp this

The plant I'm talking about is on the far right, You ca see where the roots are coming out..........

Many stem plants develop roots just below leaf nodes, and can be propogated in the manner you describe.
 
Yep that was definately the post! :D

Thanks for the reply's all, I planted it last night at the stem and the tip. If it grows I will post some more pics for you
 
I've had success with that method and micranthemum micranthemoides.

Interestingly, I have also seen a tank use rotala indica in the same way and get great results.
