Will Cardinal Tetras and anglefish get along? I've got a 55 gallon tank and I want Cardinals, but at the same time I've always loved angles and I'm aware that angles can eat neon tetras... but I've been told before that Cardinals get too big for angles to eat... is this true???????

I have kept them with full grown Altum Angels which are bigger than the more usual Scalare (sp) angels, and they were fine, as long as the cardinals get to a decent size the angels should be fine with them but one can never be 100%

It could be a risky match, as angels eat neons in wild as one of their natural food sources, and cardinal tetras don't look a whole lot different from neon tetras. A lot will depend on the individual nature of the angel fish as well as its size and the tetra's sizes.

Alright so pretty much if I get big enough Cardinals (say 1" to start) and smaller angles I should be OK... for the time being ;) I guess I'll give it a shot, if not I'll just sell the angles back to my LFS...

Not totally sure, but maybe you could try getting angel fry (maybe not fy, but close to it) and raise it alongside your tetras? Perhaps if you raise them together the angels might not think of the neons as food.

I had an angel with 10 cards and they all left each other alone. I made sure I bought a baby angel and large cards... that way the angel grew up with them and left them alone. I don't have this tank anymore, so there's no telling what would have happened down the road though.......

Alright so I gotta buy SMALL angles (like 2" max) and the largest Cardinals I can find... got it :D thanks guys lots of help! If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know!
