i just did a ammonia test for fun because i thought i was in the middle of a fishless cycle, my ammonia levels a week ago were blue, im down to lightgreen/yellow

CAN THIS BE!!!!!

1 week with mature media???

i dont have a nitrite test yet but im def going out to petsmart today and getting it

Im putting ammonia straight in now because i dont know how long its been yellow/green!!!!

WOW!

tested 3 times, im astonished!!

nitrate still like 10ppm

my nitrites must be like SO HIGH!!!!

Well if you have mature media it's not too surprising, but your nitrite might not be too high as it doesn't sound like you've added any ammonia since the initial dose.
Keep in mind that "blue" and "lightgreen/yellow" don't mean anything to people who don't have the same test kit as you, try to post the actual value of your tests, not the colour.

ok 0.25ppm or under maybe 0 it was kinda yellow and blue is 8.0ppm and over

The ammonia needs to be clear to create the nitrites, right?
to fully cycle the tank, it can to upto 8 weeks

I can't read the numbers in that picture, but it looks like it matches the third color bar. If your test is anything like mine, the yellow for zero ammonia is very obvious when it finally shows up.

i have the same kit, its real distinct when you get to 0. trust me it will look dark yellow. if it has any tint of green in it its not to 0 yet.

Just to fan the flames, it is difficult to differentuate colour shades unless they are on a white background. Notice the colour keys are all on a white back ground? It doesn't help that in the background of the photograph there is a green bush. Place the test tube against the white back ground next to the colours.

When I'm doing any of my tests, I always put the tube up against the actual colors.
Whichever it blends into is usually spot on.

have you read the fishless cycle thread?

you have to keep adding ammonia till nitrites go off the chart. I was adding it twice a day
