We brought this Peckoltia 2 weeks ago from our lfs but we don't know exactly what he is. We were told he was rare, he's 5 inches long, very lazy and blinks! Any ideas please?

He's definitely not a catfish. I've tried different searches and found similar looking Peckoltias but not one with the same markings. I really am stumped. :/

I have a hillstream loach in my little guppy tank at work. He looks a little like that and he blinks but he won't grow to 5" but maybe the same family.

this is definatly some sort of loricarid. try posting in the catfish section. i can tell you it will hav an L number but theres like hundreds of them to go through so unless someone can give you the number from recognising it, you'll have to search through those numbers to find this one fish... and i doubt you'll wanna do that lol x

ive just relooked at the pic and it reminded me of the fat pleco. cant remember the number. ill have a little look around for ya x

Closest I get to resemblance is L008 (leopard peckoltia). I must admit it's not a full match when it comes to colour and paterns, but when going through all the peckoltia on planetcatfish that's the one that comes closest.
The thing that throws me off most is the dots on the head. Maybe they change with age? :S Colour wise it's not uncommon for them to have lighter patches like yours to make it look different. Definatly try posting this in the catfish section, you're more likely to get a good responds there.

Thanks all for your help, he really is a tough one to find. He had sat in the lfs for about 8 months and nobody wanted him. The other half took pity and brought him home
I thought it would be easy to identify but I've had no joy at all. I'll post it in the catfish section and pray someone recognises him!
Thanks again :)
