Cure for aquarium fish against Kiemen and skin August worms Gyrodactol is an effective preparation for the fight against Kiemen and skin August worms of the kind Gyrodactylus and Dactylogyrus with aquarium fish.

Disease picture
Intensified breath movements (as with oxygen deficiency), scrubbing at articles, jerky swimming movements connected with fright colouring or apathetic "hanging around" in the aquarium are signs of an infestation with Kiemenwuermern.
In addition with infestation with skin August worms blood-suffused places can have to be observed in the skin.
An infestation of the Kiemen can be determined also in the following way with simple means: Suspicious fish out-catch, on damp document bed and with tweezers carefully a kiemendeckel raise. With a magnifying glass (10x) the whitish worms can be very easily recognized.

Application and dosage
Water change of approx.. 30-50% make and as follows proportion: 1 tablet on 20 l aquarium water. Necessary number of tablets in a place with good water movement directly in the aquarium gives, or before in suitable container (no metal!) dissolve and then in the aquarium give.
Duration of treatment: 2 days.
A water change of approx. is subsequently. 75% necessarily.
If necessary, a subsequent treatment can take place in the same way after some days.
Gyrodactol together with other cures do not use.
If different preparations should have been used briefly before, is a water change of approx.. 75 % necessarily.
During the treatment may not over coal be filtered and possibly existing UV Wasserklaerer are to be switched off.
During the treatment a good oxygen supply is to be ensured.

Side effects
None admits.

To the attention
Gyrodactol do not use with pH values under 7 and karbonathaerte under 8-10°dKH.
Soft water accordingly up-harden with JBL AquaDur plus. Use only half dose in aquariums without soil reason and mechanism.

Reference
After final treatment a double dose JBL Acclimol promotes the healing of the wounds left by the suction worms as well as the healthy regeneration of the mucous membrane

Anyhoo i cant use the stuff as the water is too soft lol

A pH above 7 does not nessesarily mean the water is hard, hardness is measured by the KH of the water and is its ability to resist acids which can alter the pH. Some water companies in soft water areas add elements to the water to raise the pH as acidic water does damage to pipework, but the KH remains low and within a short while the pH will drop back down again as there is not enough calcium buffers to hold the pH at the higher level. Likewise in hardwater areas CO2 in the water supply will give a false low pH reading as carbon dioxide acidifies water but once the gas is released the buffers raise the pH back up again.
