Well Im not new to fish but new to saltwater fish. And well im in college and I only can have a 10 gallon tank. So I just want to know if it could work out and what fish would be good for it.

yes it can work if you know what you are doing.

Uhh, a good fish for that tank size is a goby, maybe you could try and find a mated pair of some goby. There are a few other good options. But in the end, not much at all...

You want a reef, FOWLR (fish only with live rock) or FO (fish only) tank?

The fish wouldn't care much but those points come into my mind.

FO or FOWLR: If you would need to use medication or a special treatment you don't have to care about sensible corals.

Reef: With corals, you always have a good indicator for water quality.

But those are only minor points. Most important may be the lighting question. With most corals you need really bright light, and for the less light demanding ones you need at least a decent lighthing whereas for fish only any light would do.

so what is need to start one. I know i have to get saltwater but do i need a new fliter or new pebs..... how long should u let ur tank run on its own befor adding fish

For basic info on setting up a SW tank, read the pins in the various marine sections.

There are just oo many variables for anyone to give an answer that covers every possibility.

well i have my tank up and running i have two little clown fish. and i had my tank running for 3 days with salt in them befor i add them
