I just got 3 new corys today. They are C. seussi, aka C27. They are lovely fish, but still quite young.

I have never seen them for sale before and naturally I had to have them. Sad to say, I cannot find much about them on the internet and do not remember anyone having said they own them. If anyone sees this and knows anything about them please give me whatever information you can.

Here's a link with pictures:

Pretty, aren't they? What do you think?

I think they are very pretty indeed!

We never see anything new around here. Just albinos, peppered, julii, pandas and melenistus. All lovely fish but not as pretty at those!

According to Aqualog's All Corydoras:

From the upper Rio Negro. Grows to 9cm. Also known as Gossei Longnose. Juveniles have a mottled brown colouration, paling as they get older, then changing to a beautiful mature adult with spotted head and striped caudal fin.

Prefers a planted, but not too bright tank, is omnivorous and peaceful.

Recommended tank size is 80-200 litres, 22-25C and PH 6.5-7.2.

Also states do not keep less than 10, but it says this for all corys. :D

OK, just scanned some photos:

Hi LadyMinion and SirMinion :)

Thank you so very much for looking them up and posting the pictures for me. It's taken me so long to respond because every time I come to look at the pictures I had to go running back to the tank to look at them.

I am so thrilled with them. Mine are still in the semi-adult stage and while their lovely patterns have not yet developed, some of the color is there. Compared to the bronze or sterbai of their length, these are much more delicatly built and when they swim, they have a fluttery way of doing it.

I have a good lfs, but it's still a big surprise to find something like this. I bought the last ones there and the owner said he will try to get some more next week if he still can. I'd love to have a total of six and breed them when they mature, or at least be able to try. They are still too young to tell if they are male or female, but I think I might have one female and 2 males. :D

i did a little research myself being its 5am and I'm bored and all i could find out was that they're named after this guy .. Dedicated to Mr. Werner Seuss. ... all the other sites i found weren't English :/

they are very cute though

Hi dwarfs :D

I found them at Aqua Hut, my favorite lfs. :D

They had gosseis too, but I missed them again. They might be getting more of them in too, but since they look so similar to the seussis I will probably just get more of them for now.

Now that the fall is coming, the season when people start getting back to their indoor hobbies, I expect that they will be getting some interesting corys. They sell them out fast though, so if you are interested in them you have to go back regularly and during the week. By the weekend they are often gone.
