Hi all
Im interested in setting my 30 litre up for some BBG. Think this would be big enough?
How many would i get in there?
Also I have been doing some research about setting up the brackish aquarium.
Any tips, advice would be appreciated...

I no nothing about brackish as I have never done this before so excuse me if I sound ignorant

Thanks :good:

So you took no notice of my reply in the Oddball section :shifty: !

BBG's are fresh water to low end brackish [and thrive in really clean water] and they do well in groups. If I'm completely honest I would think that a 30l is too small for a decent size school of these, they tend to be a little shy and do better in groups of six or so....and for that 30l is to small!

You could try three in there but the are really shy and tbh you would barely see them.

If you want to go with this though the first thing you're going to need to a hydrometer or his more accurate brother the refractometer. They can be kept in fw but I think they do better in low end brackish....around 0.2sg.

Also they are fussy eaters! The ones I kept in the past were spoilt and preferred live blood worm over anything else.Although they will/should take freeze dried and some flake food!

That said my mate keeps his with a F8 and they eat for England and are doing great....bigger tank though!

They are defo fussy eaters.... you can 'train' them to eat flake food... mine's starting to take flake food. They eat live food.
They dont mind living on their own, and mine isnt exactly shy, but you hardly see him.
They like lotsa places to hide.

I'm a definite bumble bee goby fan, our local fish shop has a sort of 'returns/donations' tank which can have nearly anything in. We spotted a BBG, called it Chopper and it did alright but keeled over after a couple of months. The hopefully relevant question i'm getting round to is whether a BBG kept in brackish water can make the transistion to fresh water? I'd love to have a few but only if they would be happy in my freshwater tank (most i've seen in fish shops are sold from brackish water).
