I have a 75 gallon tank with a triple tube T-8 fluorescent strip light. First question is can you put T-10 bulbs in this strip light (All Glass Aquarium is the manufacturer) I put a Power-Glo T-10 40 watt bulb in there with the other 32 watt bulbs, everything seems to work but my plants are not doing so well after a couple days they start to go. 75 gal with 2 Emperor 400's, no airstone, no substrate, just some fertilizer tabs.

Is the bulb mixture correct/inadequate???
Do I need CO2????

Thank you

Generally , plants that go from one environment to another, i.e.: Moving, go into shock ! You have re-created just such a scenario, you have effectively changed the light spectrum the plants are getting and they are adjusting their chlorophyll to better absorb the new light.

This also happens when new plants are introduced to a tank... they shed their old leaves and start throwing new ones up... This is when people write in to say their plants are dying!

It is also recommeded that you change your bulbs every 10 to 12 months... !

As far as adding T10 to a T8 set-up, as long as the ballast falls into the specifications of the tube, you should be OK. IF you are looking to expand your output however, explore the new T5 lighting.
