Hello all.
I am setting up a new 170l tank (40 gallons or so) and was wondering what the tolerance of this species is. And I want them to thrive not just survive for a year then die. I have a pH around 8 but I have read on previous forums that high pH is not necessarily an issue but rather stability is more imporant? I also have a GDH of around 16 or 280ppm which, upon searching on the seriously fish site, found that these are just at the highest of their water parameter tolerance. https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/corydoras-aeneus/#google_vignette

I was wondering if they can truely live a happy and healthy life in these conditions or if this is more of a tolerance where they may survive for a little while but die young.

I didn’t have good luck with them in similar water

My local fish store has very hard water, not sure of the actual ppm or degrees, they have a couple of bronze cories that have been there for at least three years in the "Plants" tank. They are pretty massive for cories and they seem quite robust. Serious fish is usually a good source of info, but I would still tend to target the mid-range rather than extremes and try for something that truly likes more alkaline and hard waters. They might thrive but then again, they might not.
