I was at the lfs today buyin a nitrite test kit.. and they had bags of brine shrimp for $2.. so I bought one.. I don't have any small fish to feed them to other then guppies, and I'd rather not feed them to anything anyways..

I noticed a bunch of them were ''attatching'' themselves to other ones, and the ones being attatched to had round balls on them. I'm guessing they're breeding, and the balls are eggs/fry.. WHATEVER..

So I'm wondering.. if I want to keep these guys alive, how do I do it? I'm going to do a search online and see what I can find, but thought I'd throw this out here in case someone here has done it before.

Can I just stick them in an ice cream bucket and they will be fine, or do I need an air pump at least in there.

OK I was doing some reading and found this out..

''If well cared for and kept in a low salinity, your adult brine shrimp will (or might) spawn in your aquarium. Every adult female is capable of producing 75 nauplii a day, or 300 every 4 days. They will be able to spawn 10 times during a normal lifespan. However if well cared for they can, as I stated earlier, live for as long as 3 months and during that entire time spawn every 4 days.''

I also read that you need marine salt to keep them alive.. uhh.. I have none... are these things gonna die in 5 hours?

Can I use tablesalt?? I'm guessing no.. but thought I'd ask anyways.. what about freshwater aquarium salt?

I never thought brine shrimp would be so difficult haha

Try Sea Monkey care sheets, they're (afaik) exactly the same thing, although perhaps different species... Foodwise, they can eat the smallest liquifry, but if you want to keep them you could try one of those 'Sea Monkey Refill Packs' that come with food, eggs and 'water treatment (which I'm assuming is salt).

blah these poor things are totally going to die.. lol.. I don't know if I should feed them to something now, or wait and see if they start to die..

You can use aquarium salt or even common salt if it does not have any cyano compounds mentioned. You can feed them yeast, egg yolk, wheat flour and algae. And remember to change atleast 20% water every week.
