Can anyone help me please. What food is best to give guppy fry. I have mangaed to save 15 in a guppy breeding tank but don't know what to feed them. I have just lost 4 of them and think it is wrong food as all else OK. Can you help?

I fed my guppy fry powdered flakes(grind it inbetween your two fingers) and mine liked tubifex worms, also powdered. But its also good to get some live food if you can, like flyless fruitflies. I also heard bloodworms are excellent also.

Hi Dan and welcome to the forum :hi:

There is special food made for fry that is available at your lfs (local fish shop). It is basically flake food but it is ground fine enough for the fry to eat it. There is also liquid fry food that comes in different preparations to feed live bearers, like guppies, and egg layers. Both work well.

In a few weeks you can feed them finely chopped bloodworms (live or frozen). Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds. Just get the worms and put a small portion on a plate and mince it finely with a sharp knife. Once they are old enough to eat this they will begin to grow quickly.

If you do, just be sure to feed some flake food, too, so that they have a balanced diet. :D

I simply grind flakes between my fingers for my fry. I allow most of them to be born in the community tanks (free protien ;) ) and many still survive.
