Hey guys I have had my group of seven A. ternetzi for a while now and they are an amazing fish.

During my time with them I have found them to be a peaceful fish contrary to what I have heard, they are outgoing and active.

I have no clue on how to sex them but with a group of seven wild caught specimens I would hope to have decent mix of males and females.

As far as I know there are no known successful breeding attempts, would anyone have any suggestions on how or if you have bred similar species and info would be greatly appreciated.

I would just love to spread this amazing fish to other hobbyists at a much more affordable price then what I paid 😄

Well, I disagree with much of the 'information' in the article about A. anostomus that you linked, especially regarding temperament. And the breeding paragraph is non-information. To the best of my knowledge A. anostomus has only been bred in Asian farms with the aid of hormone injections. A. ternetzi, a lovely species, to my knowledge has not been mass produced and is only available wild-caught, but that might have changed in recent years. It's been a while since i kept either species, both of which I like. And as you have experienced, I found A. ternetzi far more peaceful temperament-wise.

Bottom line, breeding-wise, is that A. anostomus has been kept by aquarists for over a century and A. ternetzi for over 50 years (first got mine in the early 1970s) and there has never been a recorded spawning in the aquarium for either species. Not to say you couldn't have the first one!

Any chance they require seasonal conditions to trigger breeding? I think i've mentioned i have around 20 in my 600 (10x4).

Could be. Or a period in rapid flow waters. Or a food source we do not or cannot provide. The fact that you have such a large school is intriguing if the event only happens in a spawning circus. I always thought A. ternetzi should be more amenable to spawning than its larger cousin.
