i can't find the topic on moving house......

Any pointers?
the tank is a juwel vision 180, and they aren't moving too far, only half hour down the road... any help appreciated!

we will be helping them move so we should be able to help as well.

I've had to move a small (40 litre) tank quite often recently, maybe not quite a 180 but the same principles should apply.

I've done one of two things:

1. Drain most of the water so that you can move the tank, remove all harsh objects (rocks or anything the fish might knock against), basically everything except the gravel and plants. Make sure the fish have at least a few inches of water to swim in and then move the tank. Personally I didn't like this, I spent the whole car journey grimmacing and thinking the fish were going to die, but they were absolutely fine.

2. Drain most of the water again, but take the fish out and put them in plastic bags of water (try to keep the same species in the same bags). It helps to put them in a polystyrene box, if you have one, to keep them warm and in the dark.

I'd recommend putting them in bags as the water doesn't slosh about half as much, and you don't have to be as careful with the tank and you can drain more of the water. Only use the first step if you want to save time and you don't have many fish.
