Hi, I've just bought some new fish and I'm telling you all about it because none of my family understand.
:(

I couldn't get any cardinals because they haven't any in stock (and I wouldn't want them fresh off the plane anyway). But, they had some Petitella georgia (False Rummy-nosed tetras) so I bought 3 to make up my school and 3 black neon tetras to make up the school in the other tank.

In part-exchange, I gave the LFS my largest pearl gourami, a male, because he isn't getting on with my other male. He's in full breeding colours and everyone was wow'd by him. They said they hadn't seen a mature male in colours like that for a long time and wanted to know how I did it

I said I think it's the peat-filtered water and a high-protein diet (lots of live and frozen insect food). I'll be interested to see if the other male becomes more brightly coloured now, and even if they'll attempt to breed.

I've put my new, baby tetras in a quarantine tank for the moment (I have to gradually drop the pH) but so far, so good. I hate this part - waiting to see if your new aquisitions survive transport. :/

Sounds like you are having quite a lot of success with the Gourami's Anna! From what you say I wouldn't be surprised if the other male does brighten up now... and then you never know! ;)

I hope your Tetra's survive! I agree with you, this has to be the worst part. :what:

Hopefully they'll all be fine and swimming with the others soon! :)

Are none of your friends interested in the fish? I am lucky I guess... my brother is in to fishkeeping too and some of my friends.

You never know, maybe you'll meet some friends on here who live near to you as the forum grows! ;)
