Hi,
I've just googled blue platy and found this forum and have just registered.
This evening I've cleaned out my tank, I've done exactly the same thing as I've done for the every 3 weeks for the last 5 years but my blue platy is now nestled on the bottom of the tank and has not moved since the cleaning out. He/she is normally first to the surface at feeding time (nicknamed Dyson!) but not today.
I've lost 3 previous blue platys in the last 4 months, it's a species Ive not kept before and probably won't again as it appears to be a bit tetchy. Most of the platys had swollen stomaches from day 1 but I didn't ever see any babies just swollen stomaches, off their food and then unfortunately they died.
I'm obviously doing something wrong. The rest of the tank is tetra and danio dominated, although the danios are more domineering that the rest.
Any help and advise on any of this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi natterjack :)

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

I'm going to move your thread over to the Emergency section. I think you're more likely to get the help you need there. :D

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Being bloated can be constipation, swim bladder, dropsy, internal parasites.

What does it look like when she goes to the toilet.
Hows the fish breathing.
Does she look pale or darker in colour.
Is she resting to oneside on the substrate.
Check her anus to see if it enlarged or red and inflamed.
What do you feed the fish.
