help! noticed our fish were spending lots of time 'bouncing' off leaves & flicking off rocks .....so bought some medication to sort it as we thought they must have some beasties bothering them(parasites)...the stuff is methylene blue & we put it in 4 days ago the water turned dark blue much to the fishes horror & although it has lightened a lot its still blue. the fish seem to be having trouble smelling & seeing food & havent eaten much for days.
can we get rid off this stuff now??? has it been in long enough? the instructions on the med are not clear. we dont want to use a carbon filter /water change to help clear it if its too soon & we've put the fish through this for nothing!.....but we're going to have to give them some torches to see if this goes on much longer.(we checked & we did get the dose right!!!!) :(

all i can suggest is carbon in ur filter or a water change im affraid.....they are perfectly harmless as long as u treat the water ur goin to put into the tank first

Tek :fish:

I used an Ich treatment that turned the water blue. The blue color faded after a day or so but it did not bother the fish. You have to treat ich for at least 10 days or you may not get rid of it.

I used Quickcure and it turned the water blue. Actually, none of my fish had any trouble at all. It just went away days later.
