Does anybody have any experience with blue acaras?

Can they be kept in a community and how much water do they need?

If not ok in a normal community would they be ok in a larger cichlid community e.g. discus and firemouths?

Thanks in advance

ive never kept blue acaras but the web indicates they would not be good tankmates for discus ( plus discus cost too much to be put with something that 'might' become aggresive towards it. imo). The firemouth would also probably suffer at the hands of the BA

size: 8 in (20 cm)
tank: 32 inches
strata: all
pH: 6.5 to 7.5
Hardness: soft to hard
temperature: 72ºF to 82ºF
this is only a guide any problems see badmans site

Jewls make good tank mates for them, i had mine with firemouths and other fish as well. Discus are a no no cause of the water treatment.
Severums, Firemouths, Jewls, Uaru, Convicts (but they tend to fight a bit)

Tanks for the info VIP, I've decided against the acara's and will probbably go for severums as I want a community tank so that I have room for fish from my other communities if they get too large.

Cheers!
