ok folks now that i bought my great blenny, it's ate most of the hair algae that was taking over the tank, and i'm just wondering if there is any special tips or requirements that i can or need to feed it on, like algae tablets or some thing along thoses lines ?

When i feed them food the rest of the crew eats them but not the blenny?

On one more point after i introduced him and now he's cleaned most of the tank i'm satrting to get the red algae back on the sand, after it had cleaned up great as well ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks folks and merry Xmas !

Increase water flow if possible in this area. I would get some rowaphos too as there seems to be some form of nutrient that being u sed here. either nitrate or phosphate.

My algae blenny is exactly the same. It eats algae but wont touch anything else and this worries me . (I have hear od these blennies starving to death once the algae is gone). I no longer clean the back or sides of the tank to let a surface film of algae grow here. this keeps him busy and so far he is still as fat as he has ever been

hi dude,

Once again thanks for your help in this matter, i'm going to get some as soon as poss, and have been reading that i need to put it in the filter. then thats cool, i have a flucal and it's about 3 cannister's in so im so the cloth bag that it comes in will fit nicely between two of them.

I know i haven't seen my goby much ! ( i'm getting woried ) i'm going to do some more tests ! ( i'll report them to you soon )

Thats what i was scared of about the blenny! but lets see, i haven't cleaned the sides are the back of the tank so thats cool, and there is always a bit of hair algae on the heater and around it etc.

Can you tell me any where to order it over the net ? like a uk supplier ?

rally the only blennies that eat hair algae is Lawnmower blennies. What kind do u have? Gobies kind of hide a lot except for firefish.

yeah looking at all the pics i can find about them he looks like a lawnmower one. he's really cool and doesn't really hide that much infact he swims up and down and around the tank when you watching him, like he's kinda showing off, so i guess i'm kinda lucky as so does my orange spotted goby, gotta get some of that stuff though as the brown and green algae's coming back strong. dam it !
