Blackwater Extract

Does anyone here use blackwater extract (or the equivalent with peat)? I am thinking about trying it with one of my tanks, but I'm not sure how all the inhabitants would like it. There is an angelfish, rams, harlequin rasboras and kuhlis, and will also be some apistos in another month or so. It is heavily planted (with fake plants ) and a good bit of driftwood and rocks, so I'm not sure if it would be good or not to add that.

I have used it successfully with bolivian rams, german rams, ghost shrimp, dwarf frogs, and guppies.

Is it something that actually helps them feel more comfortable, or did you just like the looks of it?
