I came home about 6 weeks ago to her stuck to the filter intake (she is in tank alone). When I unplugged it, she came out but had a severely damaged tail. I started by treating her with Melafix and water changes. The top of what was left of her tail disappeared. I thought it looked like it was starting to heal, but noticed her not swimming much, so I now have her in a small 1 gallon on my desk so she can move around and go to the surface easier. As you will see from pics there is a red "bloody" looking spot. I am thinking I need to treat anti-bacterial, or maybe for Protozoan ? I do not see anything cottony. Injury is white flesh with the blood spot. What can I treat her with ? It needs to be able to be dosed to 1 gallon. I hope she isn't really suffering. She is still eating fine.

I have a bottle of "Quick Cure", it is malachite green/formalin. Should I try that ?

i wouldnt just "try" anything it could cause serius problems.

i am not sure what you can use.

but i have a synodontis i rescued from my grandpa and it has absolutely no fins, it can still swim fine though, so i just let it be and heal by itself.

you have some body missing so you should use something to help fight infection

As a minimum, you need to keep the water crystal clean. In a 1 gallon that means water change every day.

Not sure about U.S. meds so I would wait till someone can advise about them.
