My female betta has a small white blob under one of her gills, it's too big to be ich, and the rest of her body looks fine. As she swims it seems to "sway", almost like if a person has a scab hanging on them while in the water, it sways in the water as it's hanging by a thread.

Sorry for the poor quality, but to get a good picture of such a small, speedy fish that hates the camera flash it's difficult! Look by the red arrow.

Hard to see in the pic.
Can you describe the blob in more detail.
Is it possible to very lightly pull it off the blob if its only hanging on by a thread.

It's hard to explain because its so small I cant make out what it is. I havent tried to remove it i'm worried I would hurt the fish doing that.

Does the blob look hard or soft like filled with fluid.
Does the blob look smooth or look like a cauliflower.
Any redness to the blob.
Can you see whats in the blob.

I found a cheap magnifying glass and looked closer. I appears to be round and smooth almost like a fish egg not like cauliflower. No red, and when the fish brushes past a plant or decor the white dot still doesnt come off so it is on there pretty good. Could it be some sort of parasite, but why only 1, I looked all over the tank bottom, plants, and fishes body and only see that 1.

If you see my females ovipostier you can compare the blob size to it, the blob is slightly smaller.

Round smooth egg shape growths can be lymthocystis.
Get you some info to rule it out.
Does it look hard or soft like filled with puss.

Look under lymthocystis.

I looked at pictures of fish with it and it doesnt seem to match what i'm seeing, and the fact it's so small its hard to tell if it has puss. I'll just have to keep and eye on it.

If no signs of flicking and rubbing or excess mucas on gills or body. I would issolate the fish and try a bacterial med.
