ray and oddball keeper !!
hi, was out hunting for some fish yeasterday and came across these gorgeous fish, betta coccina. i have a tank suitably sized but contains some ctenopoma ansorgei and a pair of Fundulopanchax gardneri, the killi's keep themselves to themselves and the ctenopoma squabble amongst each other! would the betta's be fine with these or would i be best setting up another tank? the tank is around ph 6.8, black water set up with catappa leaves, peat, bushy plants and a few caves etc. temp. is around 25.6 celcius, sometimes reaching 26.2 on hot days (but we don't get many of these!)
ideally i would be able to put them in with the fish mentioned as not really room for another tank as of yet.
sexing, is it just as simple as the males are a brighter red? are the horizontal bands more visible on the females?
they were for sale for £11 for four so would like to buy 4, what sex ratio would be best? 2 males and 2 females or 1 male 3 females? or something else!
cheers
Dave
