I have a tank here with 7 glass catfish in it, will it be okay to put in a Betta too or will I cause a fight? Can't decide on a single male, or a group of female either.

Are glass cats brackish, let me check..

...thats glass fish, hmm

They aren't brackish, certainly not that i've read anywhere and they have been doing very well on there own, it just leaves the tank a little empty looking since it's reasonably sized

How big is the tank? Glass cats need a fair bit of space as I recall. I think a group of pretty girls would be a lot safer on the whole, girls are a little more active, and will swim, part and reconvene as a group, and can deal with current a lot better than males since their fins are shorter.

oh yeah I forgot about current, these guys love to sit in the current heading straight into it, it's great to watch. I'm not sure what the volume of the tank is, it''s a while since I set it up now and can't remember, it's 42" long by 24" deep, possibly 18" high but not sure.

Well if all you have in there is the glass cats then you should add a few more of them to start with. They really love to shoal together, and the more there are the better their behaviour ( and they look so much better in a big group too )

As long as the current isn't absolutely blasting round and you have some areas well planted for hiding and escaping the current if needed, then a group of 6 girls would go just fine in there with 10-12 glass cats.

Think I might go for this plan, as the glass cats are great to watch, and the LFS had some nice looking girls in stock recently.
