Hi,

What is the best way and type of medicine to treat whitespot with? I have read that upping the temperature to about 30 (my current water temp is 25) will help. Also what is the best medicine to try, will the Interpet anti whitespot do the trick?

Raise the temp to 30 or a little higher if you want depending on species in the tank, then dose with a good med, interpet is a good one, protozin is another.

The high temp speeds up the life cycle of the parasite, making it fall off quicker, its once its in the free swimming stage/fallen off the fish, that it is vulnerable to medication, so keep up the dosing of the meds until the parasite is completely gone. It sometimes takes two rounds of medication to clear it completely. In between dosing, you can do water changes and a good gravel vac can help suck up some of the parasites, just remember to re-dose the amount of medication needed for the amount of water changed :good:

Many thanks for your advice, this is great.

Interpet anti whitespot treatment worked well for me along with raising the temp, took around 2 weeks to get rid of it properly.
