Looking to replace my filtration for both my tanks soon.
I've got a 4ft tropical (350L) and a 3.4ft cold water (190L).
For the tropical I've got an Aqua One 1000 and an internal TetraTec In Plus 1000 which I'm happy with for now and a Ehiem Pick up 2012 and Fluval 4plus for the cold water.
What it is is that I'm looking to filter both tanks with just one canister filter for each one.
It's getting to be a bit of a pain cleaning the internal ones more often than the external and idealy i would like to have one canister for each tank which i could clean around about the same time.
I've seen cheapish ones which look good for around £60-£70.
I would like to know if i get a 2000L/H for my 350L tropical, would it be too much?
I want the tanks with tip top filtration and i go by the x4 cycle per hour rule so If i got the 2000L/H for the tropical and maybe a 1200L/H for the cold water one, do you think that would be ok?
Thanks guys.

I would recommend a Rena XP Filstar. I have a 400L tank and uses the Rena XP Filstar 3 for it and i never lose flow. Also they are like tanks they will never give in....
It also runs at 1591 a hour will the filter media full. Most external filters will tell you 2000Lah ( the cheap ones from ebay ) But that 2000lah is when the canister is empty...

Some people say that they use 10x filtration?!
I think that's a bit of overkill but I'm probably wrong!

Well i bought a cheap branded external filter form ebay which does 2200 lah can be found here
And my flow was horrible. I asked for a refund and got told that the 2200 is with the canister empty. Has you can see the 2200 one is like 70 pound. In the end the filter gave me a electric shock and now its in the bin -_-
I then went out and bought  a second hand Rena XP Filstar 3 and it has lasted me for 3 years so far. Also i bought it second hand and i emailed rena and asked for new pipes and they sent me them for free and the inlet and outlet plastic things. Just thought id recommend rena has a company and there filter's. Cheap brands will always break very easily.

10 Times turnover is not overkill for high tech planted tanks. They need the extra flow and its well worth going for if you wanna grow some of the harder plants that are insanely picky.
