Recently after a trip down to the beach, i collected a few pieces of driftwood, and am thinking of using them in my tank, would this be possible and if so is there a process i need to go through before i can put it in my tank? I have just thought - wont it float?

We still put sewage in the sea, I would think carefully about how your going to sanitise it.

Most advice is not to use driftwood from beaches due to high salt/mineral content as well as any toxins that could have soaked into it such as petroleum residue, oils, etc.

What about freshwater driftwood if baked/scrubbed etc it looks better then the "driftwood" they sell in stores and wont cost me $300 for what I want when they tell me I still need to cure it or else my tank will go brown

I went looking for fresh water driftwood, and realised I was in a protected area. Br carefull because some of the best British wetlands and marshes are protected in some way or other for conservation.

all good points thanks for the advice maybe i WONT be putting that in my tank dont want to chance hurting the fish.
