Does anyone know if it is normal for a banana plant to lose its bananas? The roots are well developed and over the last month the plant has had a growth spurt with the left stem (in pic) growing to about 18". During this time, the (6?) bananas have slowly melted away.

Is this a good thing? :/

The same thing happened to my banana plant. I think because i burried it too deeply.
The bananas are burried only half way so I don't think we share the same reason. :dunno:

By the way, I have another (younger) plant in the same tank that still is intact.

you're not supposed to bury a bannana plant, they are a floating plant and will anchor them selves. i have one and i just dropped it in the tank and it sits on the bottom.after a while the roots will dig down and the plant will become anchored. if the leafs get too big though the plant might float but anchored or floating it still grows fine.

i'm not sure what happens when the banannas's are all gone, my banannas have never gone away.
