Hi. My shoal of Exodon Paradoxus is coming in on Thursday and these will be my first predatory fish. Im usually into peacefull vibrant fish, but i wanted to change things up a little and have some fun :).

Since these are my first predatory fish, im not sure how to feed them a proper diet, i want to feed them a variety of things for better growth and health etc.

So any tips? How many times to feed live feeder, when to feed bloodworms (live or frozen?) etc.
Thanks in advance :)

P.S. In case anyone is wondering, i didnt order them online, so you dont have to worry about that. My LFS is ordering some from their supplier.

Get some cichlid bio gold for a staple diet. Live foods are fine every once in a while as long as they are gut loaded and quarantined. Shrimp with their shell on is great for colors and black worms are great for growth when they are small. Usually bio gold for a staple should be enough for the most part. Don't feed live foods too often or you risk introducing things into your tank and the fish might reject pellets afterwards.

When I used to keep & show predatory fish, this is how I kept them in tip-top condition.

Buy yourself a portion of beef heart from your local butcher, then blend it in a liquidiser/blender.
Add a tub of fish flake, & add some vitamin drops (optional)
Mix it all together then spoon it into an empty plastic freezer bag.
Roll it out or press it flat, gently make "chocolate bar" indentations to make it break up easily
Place in the freezer, break off a piece & feed 1 piece a week as a conditioner.

Use the above recipe as part of a varied diet, woodlice, chopped shrimp, bloodworm, glassworm & finely chopped earthworms will also go down a treat with carnivorous fish species.
